Afterschool Programs

The PS 169Q Afterschool Program, operated by Commonpoint and supervised by Director Samara Flowers, provides a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Located within the PS 169 building, our programs offer activities that change each year based on student interests and program offerings. Currently, students can participate in activities such as art, soccer, yoga, STEM, team-building exercises, and much more.

We offer two afterschool program options, both operating Monday through Friday 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM:

COMPASS Program (Free) Website: https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/home

• Available to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade

• Families can apply for afterschool through DYCD Connect

• Applications are released in early August

• PS 169 families will be notified when applications become available

• Admission is determined through a lottery system; selection is not guaranteed

• Students are required to attend at least 4 out of 5 days each week

• Family pickup begins at 4:00 PM

Fee for Service Program (Tuition-Based)

• Available on a first-come, first-served basis

• Requires a minimum enrollment of 2 days per week

• No required pickup time, offering families greater flexibility
